NEVER PROCRASTINATE OR ELSE THIS IS HOW YOUR HOMEWORK WOULD BE LIKE!!
enjoy reading!! (..or maybe laughing..hah)
This article talks about the importance of Trigonometry in our daily life. The writer tells us some of the most important applications in real-life that relates to trigonometry which mainly found its uses in scientific studies such as satellite system astronomy, oceanography, naval and aviation industries, land surveying and a few more which are stated in the article. But there are, of course, the basic uses of Trigonometry that we came across in our daily life. Apart from that, there are also some applications of Trigonometry that we might not need, but it relates to something we like ourselves.
For example, Trigonometry finds its spot in computer music. Music is a passion to most people and without realizing it, Trigonometry plays a big role in computer music. Computer cannot listens and reacts like humans, so they can’t listen to music. So how does computer music works? Simple. Computers represent the sound waves, which carries the patterns of regular sine and cosine function, mathematically. This enables computer to comprehend the sound waves and interpret them correctly, producing different types of music depending on the sound waves it receives. Thus, human enjoys the benefits of Trigonometry through music.
Apart from that, there are few scientific applications of Trigonometry that are important in our lives such as in modern architecture, digital imaging and others. From all the examples cited by the writer, it is clearly seen that Trigonometry isn’t just a branch of Science and Mathematics that we learn in school, but also something that applies in our life and daily activities form the simplest thing to the one that is important for a nation such as the satellite system astronomy.
I had decided to use this article for my assignments because out of all the articles I had viewed, this one clearly tells us the importance and benefits we gain when we learn Trigonometry. Apart from the fact that it is simple and easy to understand, it gives us new information and also help us understand more on why and how Trigonometry works. The application in real-life problems and situations stated in this article really connects to the reader, showing them the actual reasons why Trigonometry is important and helping them to interpret it clearly without having to think it too thoroughly.
After reading this article, I found myself to actually understand more and could relate the things we had studied in class with the one that really applies in our life. Before, Trigonometry is considered as one of the topic that needs to be learned based on the syllabus. Most people didn’t realize, mostly at all, the use of Trigonometry. It might be as simple as calculating the area of a lot to its application in satellite system. As a teacher, the impact I had from reading and reviewing this article is that students need to be told why they should learn something.
To attract students to learn mathematics, in this case, Trigonometry, we can involve them with some practical study. What I’m trying to say is, students need to feel the things they are learning. For example, teacher can carry out an activity such as creating 3-dimensional shapes, maybe a star. From there, students are needed to find the area, the length and all the properties of the stars. Reading this article gives teacher some basic views of activities they could carry out in class. As the result, students understand more because they could feel and see the things or Trigonometry applications they are working on compared to just imagining them from the descriptions on a piece of paper.
